Dentures held by implants
For people whose denture moves, rubs or can't be trusted when they eat or talk.
A few implants in the jaw hold small attachments, and your denture, new or adapted, snaps onto them. You still take it out to clean it.
In brief
For people who wear a full denture
Two to four implants in each jaw
You take it out each day to clean it

What happens
Fewer visits than a fixed set, as a rule. Your plan gives a range.
- 01
Step 1: Scan and bite records
A 3D scan and a look at the denture you wear now.
- 02
Step 2: Implant surgery
The surgeon places the implants under numbing, with sedation if agreed.
- 03
Step 3: Healing
Soft food for a time, and your denture adjusted so it doesn't press on the sites.
- 04
Step 4: Attachments and fitting
Dr. Dockery fits the attachments and checks that the denture sits steadily.
Comfort, alternatives, risks and fees
What to expect, said plainly.
Comfort
Surgery is done with numbing, and sedation if you agree on it with the surgeon.
Comfort and sedationAlternatives and waiting
Other choices are a new conventional denture, a fixed bridge on implants, or keeping the denture you have with a reline. A denture can loosen as the jaw changes, and waiting may mean it fits worse. The prosthodontist tells you what can and can't be done with the one you wear.
Risks and after-care
Soreness and swelling follow surgery. Infection and an implant that doesn't join the bone are risks, and the surgeon explains how likely each is for you. The attachments wear and are replaced at check-ups.
How it is billed
You get the fee for each step in writing before it starts, and a written estimate if you pay without insurance. No price is quoted over the phone or by message.

Questions about this
Can I keep my current denture?
Sometimes it can be adapted. Dr. Dockery checks it at the consultation and tells you.
Do I take it out?
Yes. You take it out each day to clean it and clean around the implants.
Do I need new X-rays?
We take a 3D scan at the consultation. Your own dentist's X-rays help if you have them.
